"It's done," she told herself as she forced her scarred and bruised body through the dark, wet tunnels. Thrown rags to get 'dressed' in after her bath, she had finally escaped past their clutches. She could see the moon at the end of the tunnels, its stars standing beside it. Her bare feet sloshed in the water, her long hair still wet and in her face. A small sound had her whipping around to try and see what was behind her, but she saw nothing. A rat, she told herself. Just a rat, surely. Starting again, Ramella Claire Williams finally was at the exit that led out to a lush swamp. The water was murky and the smell was terrible, but for a prisoner that had been held underground for fifteen years, it was a blessed sight. The young girl put her hands over her mouth as she collapsed to her knees with a splash, starting to cry and laugh all at once. She was free. She was finally free!
