Ever since the end of the Age of Colonisation, the Terran Colonial Navy needed an independent ship that could carry scouting and reconnaissance operations several lightyears away. The Forerunner-Class was chosen for this role despite previous failed attempts to gain a contract due to different roles needing to be filled by different ship types.
The Forerunner-Class became the main patrol ship of the Terran Colonial Systems Republic by 2800, gaining a refit for the future, it still is incredibly successful in the 2860s. The Forerunner-Class proved to be an asset that the Terran Colonial Systems Republic will just simply add another ICV to compliment it, not replace it.
