After Seriphous left, Smokey turned her attention back to Rose and smiled at her “well, now that That’s done with, would you care for a proper tour of our ‘new’ home?” she asked

Rose nodded as she looked about the room and watched Smokey hop off the very large bed, before she had thought it only a king sized bet but now that she was in a corner of the room and saw Smokey on it, she realized it was in fact much larger, and she could easily imagine the bed accommodating a pair of diamonds and still have room for a full sized quartz to lay with them. Smokey began the tour by waving her hands about the room and explaining the features “all the core features of the cavern have been repurposed to accommodate even the largest of gems such as a diamond thanks to the now vaulted ceilings, and as for the bed, I thought bigger was simply better there as I tend to toss and turn from time to time in my dormancy, the bed itself is made from a sponge type material, while the sheets are a fabric called…… satin I think they said very soft.” She smiled before walking into the very large walk in closet “And as I know how much you like to dress up, I built this walk in dresser for you, it has plenty of shelves and hangers for all your clothes and shoes and doubles as a personal dressing area for you” she said as she motioned to the carved stone shelves, hanging rods, and three angled full body mirrors that stood in the back of the room. Smokey then motioned to the other two dressers, one tall and one wide “and I am sure you can put your simpler cloths in these” she said then walked over to the desk “And here is a personal work station for myself, nothing much just a desk” she smiled mischievously as she went to one of the ‘windows’ that had bothered Rose earlier “Now, these? These are my personal favorite item, through the cavern I have installed this viewing portals, they will display a scenic view from somewhere on this planet and rotate to a new location every few days, I still need to install more observation probes, but right now we have two choices, one is of the island itself, and the other is from a canyon. The probes are set to delay the image and synchronize it with our own local day night cycle” Smokey finished proudly as Rose stared in awe

Smokey then grabbed Rose’s hand and lead her out of the room and into the well-lit hallway “As you can see, all the floors are made of polished stone tile, and likewise I worked the walls and roof into equally finished polished forms” she said as she motioned for Rose to run her hand across the incredibly smooth stone surface of the wall. Looking around the corridor she noticed the roof was the same as the bedroom, a white light glowed and lit the entire corridor, Smokey smiled as she noticed Rose looking up at it “That would be the light paste you were trying to make, and it is controlled by these” Smokey said as she pointed to a glowing white stone. With a touch the lights dimmed until they were entirely off, and then a second later the lights began to softly glow again getting brighter until they were almost blinding, then the lights dimmed and returned to normal “You can adjust how bright or dark they are just by thinking about how bright you want them to be when you touch the control stones” Smokey clarified

Smokey then lead rose down the corridor to a set of large wooden double doors with silver metal work for the handles and hinges. The handles were curved and looped away from the door with a lever based latch inside the curved metal; Smokey opened the door and then lead Rose inside the new room.

Rose gasped in shock as she looked around the kitchen and dining area. It was much larger and better organized, to one side was a stately dining area with a long and large table carved of wood with intricate designs along the legs and sides of the table, lining the table were a number of heavy wooden chairs with ornately carved legs, and silver fabric plush cushions to sit on and to rest one’s back against. The kitchen area was amazing as well, the small little heating device that had been repurposed into a stove was gone, in its place stood an enormous oven and stove top, Rose could see clearly the gem based heating elements and smooth stone interface, with a touch and a thought the oven would respond to her, around the oven was a plethora of counter space carved from the very walls themselves, complete with cupboards and a walk in cooler for preserving things Smokey smiled “Why don’t you go have a look around?” she whispered.

Rose nodded lost in her own mind as she moved into her kitchen her body feeling numb and began opening the cupboards and drawers and looking around in earnest. Most of the cupboards and drawers were empty however, although one did house a very elegant tea set of white porcelain with silver trim and design, another held a collection of plates and bowls, and a lower cupboards held an assortment of pots and pans. One of the drawers held an assortment of silverware, knives, spoons, forks, and so forth, while another was an organized tray of cooking utensils, spatulas, ladles, stirring spoons, etc. Rose hadn’t noticed it before but there was now a proper sink tucked away in one side, no more having to run outside to draw water. The giant doors that lead to the cooled room were in fact two different doors, one did lead to a large walk in fridge that was bare for the time being, the other lead to a giant pantry, sitting on its shelves were a collection of labeled canisters of tea leaves and a large pot of honey. Still in a daze Rose almost missed the view from the ‘windows’ in her kitchen which showed the beautiful flower meadows she loved as if they were only a step away.

Smokey smiled at her “So do you like it?” she asked softly

Rose snapped back to reality as she raced towards her mistress and hugged her “I love it!” she shouted

“I’m glad, let me show you the rest of the place as well” Smokey said as she took rose by the hand and lead her to the next destination.

Down the hall and through another set of doors Rose was treated to a rebuilt library, the room was larger and no longer so misshapen, it was now a perfect octagonal shape with stone bookshelves cut into the wall and a wheeled wooden staircase that could reach to the highest shelf sat in a carved track around the room, many of the shelves were empty now, and one of the shelves had been redesigned to resemble a wine cabinet of sorts with diamond shaped personal recesses, inside each recess was a silver canister laid upon its side with a name inscribed upon the top. In the center of the room sat a newer and grander version of Smokey’s old desk with a pair of chairs in front of it of almost equal elegance to the rather ornate and plush one behind the desk itself, around the room were also a number of small tables with giant cushions around the tables and small lamps in the center of each table. In all the library office now more resembled a library and felt much more relaxed and homey.

Smokey then lead Rose to the next destination, a heavily reinforced metal door with a gem resting in the center of the doorway. The white gem glowed dimly as Smokey approached it, opening to reveal ordered shelves of large diamond shaped recesses, each with a latch able glass pain in front of them. The rows were organized into neck chest high shelves each making a circle around the room, pathways between them all in the four cardinal directions. It was a gem vault, pure and simple, and a secure one at that. Rose looked up at Smokey “Why do we have this?” she asked

Smokey’s lips tightened “Because we might need it, and I’d rather be prepared for something that never happens then be unprepared for something that dose” she said as she looked around the room, enough space to easily and safely store one thousand gems, and a reinforced vault door that locked and would only respond to herself and Rose for the time being. “I doubt you’ll ever need to make much use of this room, but it can double as a panic shelter, and I thought you should know about it, now let’s go take a look at something a bit more cheery” she said before leading rose out.

The next room Smokey took Rose to was a decently sized sewing room, empty racks were set up for bolts of fabric, there were little containers of pins and needles, a comfortable looking work chair and desk with a human sewing machine, a number of mannequins, a cork board to post designs on, and a standing drawing desk for making new designs. Much of the needed materials were still missing but it was clear Smokey had gone out and acquired all the things she knew were obviously necessary for such a room.

The next destination was the old map room which like the library had been expanded. It was now significantly larger, in the center of the room was a table with a holographic projection of the earth and it’s moon, around the room were rolled maps of the earth and start charts, a case containing various models and figures of gem ships and warriors stood behind glass, seats were arranged around the long table that projected the holographic earth. If she had to guess, Rose would say the map room had evolved into a War room dedicated to planning and strategy.

The next destination required the two to traverse a number of corridors with rooms, Smokey took her time to show Rose each room they passed, the majority of them were either empty awaiting a purpose, or sparsely furnished bedrooms; the most ‘complete’ of these unfinished rooms was a sort of training room with a simple sparing arena and a few weapon racks, but nothing more. Now their next destination was a place Rose had never really bothered going before. The Dock.

The final destination was cave mouth that opened out to the sea, and while rose had expected to see a more or less restored version of the old dock what she found beggared belief. The old rotted wooden dock had been entirely replaced with a collection of interlocking granite slabs atop granite pillars, each slab had been carefully carved such that it fell perfectly in place and locked with its neighbours creating an almost seamless surface, and now, sitting in the dock was a small gem scout ship that just barely fit into the cavern. The ship itself was shaped like a crescent, the wings tapering down to sharp curved points while the central body was rather large, Rose imagined the ship could carry around half a dozen or so gems, but likely not more. The construction seemed more modern then other ships she had seen, but the marks along it’s silver shell made it clear that the ship was in fact very old and worn. Smokey smiled as she hugged Rose “So, what do you think of our new home?” she finally asked

Rose was admittedly in shock and what came out was not the string of complements she wanted to heap upon her mistress for her obviously tireless and endless work to make such an impossible place, but a string of question “How!? How did you build all this! I was only gone for a month!” she stammered “I mean, if you had a team of gems working with you, maybe, or if you were a gem that specialized in construction” she trailed off then looked around “but this is just impossible for one gem isn’t it? No one could do all of this in so little ti” Rose found her stream of questions cut off abruptly without any answers as Smokey kissed her mid-sentence, her tongue darting into roses mouth to prevent her from carrying on. After several long seconds Smokey pulled away as Rose looked at her blushing a very deep pink her mind frazzled as she promptly forgot whatever it was she was doing before “Zha?” she half cooed

“I’m glad you love it Rose, now let’s get the locks calibrated to respond to your gem, it wouldn’t do for you to get locked out of your own home” Smokey said teasingly as she lead a still dazed Rose away
