The professor is awesome and I'm really glad the two of them found Neil. But I'm equally ecstatic that Neil found them! One can be singularly awesome ... it might takes two to tango ... but it takes a triplet to waltz, and I'm a waltzing man myself

I really cannot imagine Rush pre-Neil. His riffs just serve to tighten up everything Rush does. Or am I mistaken?

Pre-Neil Rush is less 'progressive' in arrangement and I'm sure he had a good deal to do with infusing it into the music. He is after all part of the rhythm department, but I dont know these guys and so have no clue who came up with what, where and how ... Neil's pre-Rush ventures didn't sound like Rush either so to my mind the collaboration of these three musicians created the musical environment that made that awesome sound I like so much possible. I dont know if you have heard Geddy's and Alex's solo albums ... really interesting music.
