Unovian Flygon are indigenous to the area around Route 4 and the Desert Resort of the Unova region. Some believe that their red eyelids are evolutionary remnants of the protective lens found on Hoenn Flygon. Compared to the home of Hoenn Flygon, the Desert Resort in Unova typically has milder sandstorms with slower average windspeeds. Due to the less severe climate, Unovian Flygon likely did not need the protective lens and mutated to form standard eyelids in favor of increased visibility. They also have larger eyes which improve their ability to scan the horizon for potential food and water sources at night. Compared to Hoenn Flygon, Unovian Flygon possess more surface area on their wings due to an extended membrane that stretches to the base of their tail. This allows Unovian Flygon to sustain enough lift, even under low windspeeds, without excessive physical exertion.
