[EDIT] FINALLY fixed those issues his hand was having along with a little bit of lighting. But if I did good you won't notice anything different lol [/EDIT]I wanted to do another werewolf painting so I made this X3 I was like; heyyy i should submit this to the werewolf calendar then looked at it for a moment and thought "ooohhh portrait mmmm." SO here it is <3 UNsubmitted to the contest lol I LOVE that ear SO MUCH; I literally finished this entire thing because of that ear lol

Absolutely lovely work, this gives off quite the mood. Critique wise, I'd say the tail looks as though the end should have more of a point towards the end. Not like a cartoony pointed tail, but just so that the fur looks as though It's coming out to a tip almost.
Another lil' thing is that the hand is slightly disproportional to the forearm. I'd suggest giving the forearm a lil' more width.
Also as Kairah-Wolf said adding that lil' shine to the eyes would probably be a great idea for future pieces.
Oh and the fur came out flippen' great.

yeah I've heard a lot about that forearm XD Been meaning to fix it; but to me fixing is always more time consumin than doing so I probably won't get around to it until I finish what I've currently been working on C: As for the shine, all my backlit ref didn't have any shine in the eyes D:> SO I made it up. but might just to what the Romantic painters did and make up ALL the lighting XD though im not NEARLY as good lol Thank you for your critique!

As long as you take want you learn of older pieces and bring it to knew ones your work will improve. So you don't really even have to worry much about actually fixing it, what I worry about is simply being able to identify what is wrong and how to fix it, more so than actually fixing it. However my lil' sketches arn't quite on the same level as the kinda work you do!

Different is a nice way to put it! Much more polite than "Suck is not a style" which a certain art instructor once said (not one of mine). However I kinda follow that quote and strive to really improve everything I can; which conversely leads to me never being satisfied with what I do; but hey maybe one day it'll pay off.

Sorry about asking you lots of questions, i'm just quite interested, before you put the detail of the fur into the ear, did you use a soft edged brush to just fill out the base so it looks like it's getting thinner as you get to the end of the hairs?

What photoshop do you have so I can tell you which brushes I use C: I use photoshop elements but I've used most of them C: I was actually about to make a tutorial about this to clarify, but I don't mid questions! XP

I use Photoshop 7.0 :3 I pretty much know HOW to paint realistic fur, i just rarely have the patience, or I don't plan out the order well enough then get annoyed and leave it half finished X3
Would you mind if, at some point I made a 'continuation' in a sense to your Requiem piece? I would like to use that as a reference for the general fur texture, I had a picture of the wolf with his hand on his head trying to hold back tears, I would try to keep things like the mountains and lighting and everything the same. Seems like a good practice opportunity to get me back into painting.

I would naturally credit you, of course ^^ and it's your art, not whomever runs the calanders (it's not who owns it is it? O_o ... by the way, she and her husband, if I remember correctly, are professional musicians, in fact, her husband does what I will hopefully be doing ^^), so I don't think it'll be an issue C:

Ah right, yeah, that's just refering to your piece, so you can't sell it as an individual piece before the calander goes on sale or something, and I wouldn't sell anything that's not 100% original anyways ^^

Haha, i wouldn't say it was jealousy, but i'm the same way XD I do want to be the best, I know i won't be, but it's always worth aiming high!

only other criticism i'd add is the leg looks a bit odd.. looks a little too thin near the knee, and the way it bends looks a bit strange.
but i love the face and the atmosphere .. very nice.
