Description
Chapter 13 ~ The Pilgrim’s Path Chapter 14 ~ Agent of Nocturnal
sharquelle.deviantart.com/art/…
To reach Nocturnal, Aronansa and Brynjolf will have to follow the Pilgrim’s Path, and make it out alive. They meet an unexpected friend who is able to shed some light about how the Skeleton Key was even displaced to begin with.
The dungeon itself is inspired on the one you know from the game. This being a FanFiction and not a game-guide; I allowed myself the artistic freedom to alter it to make it more enjoyable to read (and write) about it instead of finding yourself confronted with a 'copy-paste' of the game.
Especially drawn for this chapter is this picture of Aronansa and Brynjolf as they arrive at the Twilight Sepulcher, by ChloexBowie
And the amazing oshirockingham also made a painting of a Nightingale-Nansa
Many thanks to ferret82 for helping me in my quest to kill typo's and grammatical scr*w-ups! I love your fav's!
I love your comments!

I finally had time to read this chapter. I really lovved it! LOL, food fight.
I have to say, I don't remember this Pilgrim's Path from the game. At all. Is it the creative work of your mind or am I this so forgetful? I remember the Twilight Sepulcher, but my memories contain only the first and last room.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed that, I had fun writing it... probably a little too much fun.
*throws popcorn*
The Pilgrim's Path exists in game, including the various trials. But as I often do with locations that we can visit in game, I've changed some details here to make it more enjoyable to read. I also do that with caves and dungeons. Plus Nansa's stealthy approach often makes scenes and settings look very different from the in-game ones when you compare them to the 'kill first, ask questions later - strategy' that works so well in Skyrim.
For example the Goldenglow Estate job, Nansa really was the first character that did it with no kills (in game that is) on my first play throughs I literally killed every single thing in there.

This is an amazing work in re-imaging the Pilgrim's Path! Such lovely work! But, I'm really enjoying the further development of Bryn and Nansa's relationship over the past few chapters. I'm really glad that you did this! Seeing them together as mentor and protoge as well as friends. It's a lot of fun.
and...
FOOD FIGHT!!!!
I'm sensing a theme with you!

Thank you, I love playing with the game's dungeons. Catching the atmosphere without copying the game. I'm glad you approved! Bryn and Nansa... if work needs to be done you can trust on them to get it done. But I can't promise you it will be free of totally idiotic excesses.
Foodfight... me?!?!?! Never....

I love the Pilgrim's Path. It was frustrating and hard to fight off the Sentinels but I like riddles even though it always takes me time to get them. If I remember correctly the game only helped you by the riddles if you went to get the journal, but I think this is a more realistic view of how it might've been done (but they made it a journal probably because of the game mechanics ).
My experience with the contrasting room was dying in the light before realizing I had to stick to the shadows

Thanks! In-game I found the journal to be a great way to get a hold of those riddles. I really wanted to use them here as well, but in a written story I found it a bit unrealistic to let them get a hold of that information by sheer luck. Implementing those riddles like this felt more natural. And picturing the expression on their faces, each time they found themselves faced with a new riddle after barely making it through the previous one, was such a joy as well.
The contrasting room; yeah... that was pretty similar to my first in-game experience with that room as well.

Me and my stupid non-realization: "This is too easy. Some shades are gonna jump at me but I'll just sprint straight for the door that's marked on the damn compass. I'll find it by searching that wall and close the door so I'll only have to fight one shade at a time if at all." *steps in the light and dies* "That didn't go as well as I thought" *steps in the light and almost dies before retreating back to the shadows* "ok maybe I'll go through the dark parts" *triggers about half the traps because of not looking down*
But I made it.
I don't remember if there were any poison arrows as a trap there but they're quite common, but I don't care about those at all.

All my sneak characters are Bosmer because they fit the job so well, plus I can make him look badass like an assassin/thief is supposed to without making him a hulking mass of muscle.

Fantastic chapter! My new ship: Brynjolf x Nocturnal statue . Really, you picture this man very well and it's always funny when he's around, his interactions with Aronansa are wonderful. Gallus is exactly how I had imagined him,he's kind, forgiving and wise.
Ahhh suspence!

Jay, thank you!!! I'm so happy when I get feedback like this! So kind of you to take the time for that. It is such a motivation to keep on writing. Not that I could stop doing it, that is... If you need a good laugh, you should see me;
Never leaves the house without a notebook to write down brainfarts.
Never goes away longer than 1 day without dragging a memory stick and an 8 year old laptop that can only deal with Word. (but since that's all I need I am very content with it)
Has a notebook on the bedside table, in case I come up with anything in the middle of the night.
Hates interrupting writing for things that can wait... what's wrong with having dinner at 20:30 anyway?!
Has one side of the desk filled with paper notes and actually knows what's written on each and every one of them.
AAAAHHHH, I so have to control myself the urge now to make an upload-bomb right now... and to keep my big mouth shut.

I try always to motivate everyone,it's simply my nature and I really like your works.
Oh , I'm the same: I had a sketch book always with me,when I draw there is almost always music,I need tranquillity and I hate to be interrupted too, sometimes I stay up late only to continue to draw and then I realize it's really late.

I loved loved loved this!! Those spectral assassins were so dark and creepy! Full of really fantastic exposition I think the food fight was nicely placed to help cut the tension. I'm putting all my feels from this into my painting for you!!! Such a great writer!!

I can't seem to find out what is causing the problem but I found a work-around. At the right side of the page you can now find a green download button. That one should be visible even when you can't see the file on DA itself.

I've checked with Chrome and Firefox (up to date versions), and everything works fine. I know there sometimes are Apple devices that have weird issues on this site. With other mobile devices I have no clue.
As for you desktop, what browser and version are you running?

On just a few of your chapters, I've been unable to read them. It only shows an image of Aronansa's name in Draconian. Is there any possible way to fix this?

That's weird... this particular one does not have any mature filter enabled so that can't be it. Which ones can you open and which not, perhaps I can find out what they share in common. Oh, and are you using an Apple? I know of someone else that is experiencing problems with PDF and Apple-systems.

It appears to be this chapter, Chapter 7, and Chapter 11. I use several systems including my Ipad, but it seems that I cant access them from Any of my systems. I'm using a computer at the moment (An old desktop) , but I can't access from my Phones (Galaxy s2 and HTC) either. I wonder...O.O
