I've always kind of shipped RD with Zephyr Breeze, but after seeing the finale, I have to say I'm really happy with the final canon appledash ship. More than any other mane 6 ship, this one works. Their relationship is founded on the same kind of competitive streak that I enjoyed in RD/Zephr interactions, but unlike Rainbow's genuine dislike of Zephyr, her feelings for Applejack are founded on genuine affection and friendship. I could see their competitive nature and similar athletic interests pulling them together more than the other members of the mane 6 friendship group, and then becoming something more. They are very sweet together.
