Description Hi! I’m back… after 2 years. I know it’s been some time now but I’ve been missing the Kimmunity like crazy, and now finally I have decided to make a comeback. I know this isn’t original fanart, I really want to make some of that in the future, but it’s my style of the Team Go image. I thought that the 20th anniversary of Kim Possible would be a good opportunity to post again, so here I am. I swear, the more you watch this show, the more you love it. Haven’t been watching kp episodes for like as long as I’ve been away and oh my god is it the best show ever. I missed it so much and especially drawing the characters.

So, about why I decided to draw this image, first of all I love this episode, it’s one of my to favorites. It gives Shego so much more backstory and makes you understand her so much better as a character. Shego is a truly complicated character, but the Team Go episode clears up a lot of uncertainties about her. So, I don’t believe that Shego is fully evil, but that she quit the team because of that she felt kind of limited within Team Go and became tired of fighting lame villains in the same old city. At the same time when she was introduced to the world of villainy I think she started to dream of a different life, not stuck with her brothers, but living on the edge as a villain and traveling from city to city, or to different countries. Of course the life as a villain is more risky than that of a hero (at least than being a hero in Go City) and tbh I think it was more likely for her to become a villain rather than a hero considering she was gonna be all by herself. (I mean, Kim has the whole team made up of genius Wade, Ron Stoppable, who isn’t always all that stoppable but actually serves as a vital part of the team, and of course, Rufus). And also, the main idea she had of heroism was the life she had along with her annoying brothers, fighting crime as a rather lame Team Go hero. Not that cool, at least not for Shego. She dreamt of a more free life, but also searching for a way to defy her hero-past, naturally leading her to villainy. The episode gave many clues affirming this theory, for example when Ron Stoppable said to Kim: “I’m starting to see why Shego quit” after Hego proudly presented his Go-Operation style of working. Later, as we know, Shego decided to help out, of course, to protect her reputation as a villain that she built up over the years after quitting Team Go, never wanting to be associated to the team ever again. So when Shego was flying the Team Go aircraft (like back in the day lol, not looking too enthusiastic) she said ”and you people wonder why I quit?”. Which is clearly stating that it was mainly due to her brothers and not to her suddenly turning evil. Although, once again she was simultaneously excited by the vision of a villainous life-style. So Hego still has a point when he said that the more they fought evil, the more Shego was drawn to it.

Anyhow, I also really liked the scene where Shego decided to acclaim all the powers to herself instead of giving them back, I mean, of course she would do that, she’s a villain and has to stand by that. Especially when Hego says: “But deep down you are still a member of Team Go, a hero”. I think that definitely upset Shego, because as she said: “I quit your stupid team years ago”, underlining that she thinks the team is stupid. And she is obviously enraged by fact that his brother thinks that she is still a member of the team years after being absent. This further motivates her to steal the powers and prove once and for all (both to herself and to her brothers) that she is the opposite to them and therefore has nothing to do with their team. Although, as seen later in the episode, Shego kind of easily gives the power staff up to Kim when she attempts and successfully manages to take it back. This is pointed out both by Kim and Drakken at the end of the episode. Would Shego really have gone through with it if Drakken hadn’t showed up to save her from Aviarius? (which is kind of cute by the way, he basically postponed his entire take over the world scheme to find out where Shego went, to save her from possible danger. Especially when he could have easily used the whole situation as an opportunity to try and take over the world while Kim and Ron clearly were distracted with another mission. And he did say: “So if you need me…I’ll be there for you” at the beginning of the episode. And indeed, he was there for her <33) Kim doubts that Shego would have gone through with it, by mentioning that it was kind of easy taking that power staff from her and Drakken doubts that she would have betrayed her brothers. Shego obviously could never admit that she is going “soft”, at least not at the time, since that would not align to keeping her reputation as a villain. Also, she might be worried that Drakken may doubt her evil capabilities, since he after all is a villain too. Although, I think he secretly liked Shego showing a softer, less evil side. If you think about it, if Shego would admit to going soft, she would also kind of admit to not entirely being evil, meaning that her reasons for staying with Drakken are not only for evil purposes. Of course she could never admit that, hence her quite dramatic reaction.

There was this statement I read online that Shego is the most complicated character on KP, and I kind of agree. I mean, there are multiple occasions in the show that signifies that Shego isn’t all that evil after all. Even though she does love being a villain, this is what makes her so complicated. But when it really comes to actually taking over the world I think she is quite hesitant, because as the show goes on Shego realizes that it might now be what she really wants. But it does keep her reputation and it does also make up for a good excuse as to further staying with Drakken, even though his plans fail all the time. And also, he’s not a rich guy at all, he was only able to build/buy/rent the more fancy evil lairs and get access to the more dangerous weapons when Shego came around. Shego then being the one stealing both money and supplies for Drakken. “You send her in to steal for you” as Jack Hench once pointed out (Shego’s reaction to that was kinda priceless). But when it comes to being engaged in the take over the world schemes, sure Shego loves a good fight and loves to steal stuff, but otherwise she mostly sits around filing her nails, reading magazines, mocking Drakken or sun bathing (indoors). This becomes more obvious as the show goes on and she shows more lack of interest in actually being evil. By the end of the show when she stood at the podium with Drakken in the last episode, gazing out at the audience, she actually looked really happy. For being a hero. That’s right. Along with someone that she cares about a lot, Drakken, whom she saved earlier. It’s not being a hero in itself that opposes her, but rather the idea to being stuck in Team Go day after day fighting not so exciting or important villainy (it’s not like she’s gonna make the headlines worldwide like Kim does). But yes she is a good guy at heart, also seen in how she cares about animals. I’ve kind of figured out what Shego would work as post Graduation, but I might make that a separate artwork later. The real question is, would she have become a villain if she were in a more “cool” hero team like Kim? Maybe, maybe not. Yet, we have to take into consideration that Shego is a very action-based, prone to danger kind of person, so maybe being a hero like Kim would never have attracted her in the first place. I mean, Kim didn’t always face the world’s most dangerous, well-known villains, but rather started out with helping people doing quite basic things. Then, building her way up to where she could basically fight crime and doing so on a global level, to where Team Possible had become the globally leading hero-team, even more so than Global Justice, also proving themselves more high-skilled than Team Impossible. Maybe if given the right opportunities, meeting the right people, that could have worked out for Shego, but frankly that was not going to happen given her circumstances. She was working as a local hero in a single city, never given the opportunity to expand her career. So she found her workarounds. In the very end, however, I think she finally started to realize who she really was. She could still be seen separate from her brothers and be seen as a hero.

I could talk a lot about Shego, as you’ve probably realized, but to sum it up I really like this episode. This was really fun to draw and I tried to mimic the art style of the show as I usually do. Happy to be back
