One question; what size (pixels) did you work in when you made this?

I love the lighting and color in this. It's very serene, although I have a sneaking suspicion you may put something very morbid in it . Great job!

The mountain looks cool, although it might be nicer to have more variation in tone in the foreground; it all melds together a bit.

Pretty and stylish. With a bit of imagination, I can even see the claw of a monster. ĆoĆ

do a rough drawing at first - make mistakes
then trace it on to a clean sheet with a mechanical pencil when you're happy with it.
and while tracing the clean copy, add some details like textures and stuff on the trees and bushes like i did.
you can use a light table for traing the rough to a clean or just tape the two together and put it on a glass table with a lamp underneath.

You have a very distinct color palette. I like it Could you tell us what was the size of the original drawing you made? (Do you draw big and then scale down, for example?) Also, would you consider ever making a tutorial of your photoshop coloring techniques? Scenery is very hard for me and it I'm sure it would help out a great many people!
Whadya say folks?? Let's all nag Nocturnal Devil for a tutorial!!

original size is 10 x 12 inches on paper - then i scanned it. you can scan it in whatever size. but this was the original size when i coloured it. didn't shrink it afterwards.

LOCOincubus In reply to ??? [2006-03-31 04:11:08 +0000 UTC]
you should do more of these, its very appealing!
did you use a reference or is your imagination that
great, that you can just envision it? because background
illustrations always impress me with the amount of layers
and detail.

Sheharzad-Arshad In reply to LOCOincubus [2006-03-31 06:44:04 +0000 UTC]
yep i did use reference for this - i looked at photographs of Mount Fuji and the rest of it is mostly imagination - i did a bunch of rough sketches at first ofcourse - it didn't just come out like this from the beginning
š: 0 ā©: 1
LOCOincubus In reply to Sheharzad-Arshad [2006-03-31 07:56:55 +0000 UTC]
i figured the moutain was used from reference as much
...but still the fact that the rest was still imagination, despite going
through several attempts.
im basically saying that i dont have the visual imagination to spawn
such creations like this and im impress to see works like these, hope
to see some more!

Wow, that's very good. I love how shades of one simple color can create such a wide variety of different colors (if that made any sense) Great job!
