As I was looking through my Death Valley/ Las Vegas photos, I came across one that looked to be at the exact angle as the first window on the Pink Floyd Echoes album. This worked out in so many ways for the "echo" concept. Firstly, there are no echoes in Death Valley. It's so vast and flat- there's nothing at all for the sound to bounce off of, except for the occasional sand dune, which actually absorbs the noise. There are, however, two ghost towns in Death Valley, in which echoes have their own role. I added traces of postmarks because I thought it might be nice to represent what was left of tourists, their "echo", if you will: whether the tourists merely left or stayed there- forever. Could use some more work, but I'll gradually update it.
