"Maru" and "chiyo" are used to samurai's children, never used to adults. :3
Surely samurais had many names in his life.

Nagao Torachiyo → Nagao Kagetora → Uesugi Masatora → Uesugi Terutora → Uesugi Kenshin
Hiyoshimaru → Toukichirou → Kinoshita Toukichirou → Hashiba Hideyoshi → Toyotomi Hideyoshi
etc...
