Faced with the computer terminal and my old stack of textbooks, I decided my life wasn't worth my dreams. In a split second I made a decision to put the books down and change the course of my life, for better or for worse. I think I'm alive now only for that. Shortly after that, I made the long, long journey home to see my dad one last time. He died less than two weeks after I'd left home again.
