*one winter on Sodor, Spencer and his sister Swann were brought in by the Duke and Duchess of Boxford to help out on Sir Topham Hatt's railway during the upcoming winter boom; one morning, Spencer and Swann were picking up passengers from Killaban station*Spencer: *awkwardly trying to make small talk with his sister* So, erm, Swann?

Spencer: Are you looking forward to spending the holidays on Sodor this year?
Swann: Spencer, how many times must I tell you that as private engines, we do NOT, I repeat, we do NOT mingle with commoners like the Sudrian engines for whatever reason.
