Scotch is a dog full of quirks and charm, each bit adding to his one-of-a-kind personality. Scotch’s background plays a huge roll in how he became the dog he is today.

Starting out as the runt of the litter, he was quite shy when it comes to new situations. But as soon as he becomes familiar, he will warm up fast to these new situations. Sometimes he just needs a tiny bit of assurance from the people around him.

From day one Scotch has been a kind spirit and fun to be around. Around the house he is the epitome of silliness and positive energy. He had a knack for finding amusement in the simplest of things, whether it was chasing his tail in endless circles or attempting to catch invisible bugs that danced in the sunlight. But when it is time to work, Scotch is focused and determined, and a true professional in the field. Whether it was flushing out ducks from the reeds or retrieving fallen game, Scotch approached his duties with the best of his concentration. Yet, despite his best efforts, he was still prone to moments of clumsiness. On more than one occasion, Scotch was sent to retrieve a duck only to return with a fish clutched in his jaws, much to the amusement of his owner.

When Scotch isn’t hard at work during hunts, he is a bundle of energy. He's known for his random bursts of excitement, racing around the farm like a whirlwind. His boundles enthusiasm is infectious, not only to his owner but also to the other animals on the farm. Making him the perfect fit on this ‘team.’

Scotch’s biggest trait, though, is his loyalty. He loves his owner dearly, because the farmer saw the potential in him, and saw him for who he was, even when he wasn’t at his best. Due to his size, the farmer wanted to keep a close eye on him, just to be safe. This resulted in the farmer taking him everywhere as a pup. Because of that, Scotch sticks to his owner like glue, making him a velcro dog through and through. Whether it is accompanying the farmer on his rounds, or curling up at his feet during the monthly whiskey tasting events, Scotch is a steadfast companion through thick and thin.

Scotch, a cross mix of golden and duck tolling retriever, was the runt of the litter. His father and mother were matched to create an admirable line of hunting dogs. His siblings, with their robust frames and lively personalities were quickly taken away to their new homes, leaving Scotch alone with his mother. He was smaller, scrawnier and seemed to lack the vigor that made his siblings so appealing to professional hunters.

Weeks passed and Scotch remained with his mother, growing slowly but not catching up to the size of his brothers and sisters, remaining smaller. One day, a farmer, friend of Scotch's mother owner, noticed Scotch sitting off to the side. The farmer, accustomed to the hard work and resilience required on the farm, saw something in the pup that others had overlooked. Despite his smallness, Scotch had enough energy to run around on the farm all day and overall seemed like a shy, but kind spirit when being petted.

The farmer brought Scotch back to his farm without hesitation, where Scotch received full attention from the farmer. The farmer kept a close eye on his due to his size, but Scotch soon grew up to a bigger size as his brothers and sisters. The farmer took him everywhere he went and he soon found out that Scotch actually made an excellent hunter, and also was a great companion during the monthly whiskey tasting events in the underground bar of his owner.
