Happy halloween Deviantart fellas ! I made this for Character Design Challenge of October 2020 (subject was : Yokai)

Since i was so passionned with yokai in my youth i decided to create one of my own called "Lamineta" and here is its story if you dare to read it. I hope you enjoy it !
That kind of yokai is part of the "Oni" family, a very primitive kind (not kami related). Laminetas usually live as hermits in remote places but never settle far from human villages. Even if their propotions are colossal (around 3-4 meters height) they are not aggressive if not provoked. Quite the opposite in fact, they often pretend to be healers and offer their services to those who seek them.
The big thing they carry on their back is far more to be feared. This disgraceful totem abomination emitting shrill baby cries is in fact … their favourite pet. By making decoctions out of its blood, Laminetas are able to make miracles if you are brave enough to drink them. Any disease or wound can be healed, limb or any body part can grow back like vegetal, rejuvenation, supernatural strengh, libido or vitality increase if you wish for it. But ofc what they don't tell you is that this comes with a heavy price.
Aside from its prodigious healing properties, the totem's blood will slowly change your body fluids within few years or months. And when you will be ripe enough to be harvested the totem will be struck with a violent hunger and able to smell you from hundred of miles. Rushing after you like a fast-motion caterpillar which does not rest it will ultimately find you, and when it will, none of your muscles will respond and you will slowly be devoured by its heads.
Finally you will wake up, half conscious like in a never-ending nightmare realizing you are now part of the heads. The voices of the other trapped souls, the hunger, the heavy fatigue, high physical pain, everything will try to crush your soul piece by piece, your humanity slowly being absorbed, until nothing about your existence remains.
