A stupid idea I came up with. This isn't canon, but the idea was pretty cool.According to the notes about the Nakikabane/Corpse Weeper...

We've seen one instance of a tamed animal mount in the anime, and that happened to be the large rabbit-like creature in episode one. Why not... you know? This thing?
