Description
Amiya's eyes fluttered open, her vision blurry as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. The sterile scent of antiseptic hung in the air, and the soft hum of machinery echoed around her. She pushed herself up, wincing as a dull ache coursed through her body. She was in a room, stark and utilitarian, with monitors lining the walls and medical equipment neatly organized. It took a moment for her memory to catch up with her, the fragments of her last mission slowly piecing together.
The Doctor.
She remembered him, the one who had taken her under his wing, guiding her through countless battles. He was a constant presence in her life, a beacon of strength and wisdom. But where was he now?
Amiya's heart raced as she tried to sit up, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of the Doctor. Her hand brushed against the smooth surface of a tablet, its screen illuminated with data and reports. She quickly scanned the information, her mind racing to make sense of the situation.
The last thing she remembered was a fierce battle, the Arknights fighting against the encroaching threat of the infected. There had been a surge of power, a blinding light, and then...
Amiya's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps. She turned towards the door, her breath catching as it slid open to reveal a familiar figure.
"Doctor!" Amiya exclaimed, relief flooding through her. "I was worried..."
But her words trailed off as she took in the sight before her. The Doctor stood there, his presence commanding, but something was different. His gaze held a distant look, as if he were seeing her for the first time.
"Amiya," he said, his voice measured. "You're awake."
The tone was not unkind, but it lacked the warmth and familiarity that Amiya had come to expect. She felt a chill run down her spine, a sense of unease settling in the pit of her stomach.
"Doctor, what happened?" Amiya asked, her voice trembling slightly. "Where are we?"
The Doctor hesitated for a moment, his gaze never leaving hers. "We're in Rhodes Island, Amiya. You were injured during the last mission. It's going to take some time for you to recover."
Amiya's mind raced, trying to process the information. Rhodes Island was their base of operations, but something felt off. She couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story.
As the days passed, Amiya couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. She moved through the base, interacting with the other members of the Arknights, but the sense of unease never left her.
She knew that something had changed, that the Doctor was different, but she couldn't put her finger on what exactly had shifted. All she knew was that she couldn't shake the feeling that they were heading towards a future that was more uncertain than ever before.
