“Where’s Erebus?”

“Where’s Rayne,” they stared at each other for a long moment; Erie, with a deadpan expression, and Talis with the corners of his lips twitching.

“I do believe I asked first,” Talis gestured a hand vaguely and sat in one of the love seats that graced his study. Watching as Erie took a seat opposite him, he raised a brow at the hint of mischief in her gaze.

Immediately, upon sitting, she flopped out across the love seat, throwing her legs over the opposite end and pressing her cheek to the cushion. He resisted the urge to grin at her dramatics. There was no need to give her a bigger head than she already possessed. “He’s taking a nap with Zinnia.” For a moment, her eyes raised to the daylight pouring in from the window and she chuckled, “It’s not like he meant to. He was just going to lay down with her until she fell asleep, but he fell asleep himself.”

At this explanation, he found himself pressing a hand to his mouth in order to stifle the laughter threatening to escape. Upon noticing, Erie grinned at him. “I suppose she puts him through the wringer?”

Erie bobbed her head, the corners of her lips twitching. Dramatically, she placed the back of her hand against her forehead and stared at the ceiling, “Poor guy does have to deal with both her AND me! How could he not be exhausted?” Her faux concern lasted all of about five seconds before another mischievous grin graced her lips. Then, her gaze raised to Talis’. “And what about Rayne?”

Something in his gaze changed. Staring at her, or studying her, he stated, “She went on a new mission.”

Abruptly, her face fell, “Damn. I was hoping I could see her before she left.” How strange when before she wouldn’t have cared much about the woman leaving for a new mission. Now, her heart squeezed at the thought. Of course, she knew why she felt as such. Her eyes became half lidded as she slyly watched Talis. To think that I would fall for my best friends… Even me, a literal goddess of Fate and Love, had no idea that would happen.

Though she supposed that it was much easier to know things when you weren’t actively involved.

“Anyway…” Erie beamed at him. “What are we gonna do now that we’re alone?” A shiver of foreboding crept up her skin and she blinked. Now that she thought about it, those words of hers sounded somewhat suggestive… Oops.

But it didn’t seem as if Talis realized that. He gave a boyish grin and chuckled, “You say that as if I’m supposed to know automatically!” A pause as his eyes trailed to the wine cabinet. “I could always break out the wine.” Erie’s gaze abruptly lit up.

Sitting up in a hurry, she leaned forward slightly and his heart abruptly skipped a beat. Especially when she leaned forward in such a way that the light filtering through the window caught her strands of ashen blonde hair and made them glow. The corners of her lips curled. “That sounds like a fantastic plan~ We could have a small, intimate, get together.” The purr was evident in her voice.

His face flushed. Staring at her oddly, he stood, and tried to ignore his suddenly rapid heartbeat. “Yes, we could.” Brushing off Erie’s flirtations, he headed to the wine cabinet, all too aware of Erie’s eyes on him. Opening the glass doors, he glanced back at her. “Does it matter?”

It took her a moment’s thought, brows furrowing in intense thought. Then she shot him a cheeky grin, “How about fae wine today?”

Offering her a nod in return, he took the bottle and uncorked it. Setting aside the Corkscrew, he took out two wine glasses. As he poured the wine, his curiosity was peaked as he heard movement behind him. Brushing it off, he turned around, fully prepared to carry the wine over to the table. Then he immediately paused as he noticed that Erie was not sitting where she had been before.

But on the love seat he had vacated. Her legs were curled up under her as she leaned into the arm the opposite of his own. The goddess shot him a smile that he had the feeling was supposed to be innocent. Considering that he knew her better than that, he knew that smile was anything but.

A touch of amusement crossed his face as he took his seat and set both wine glasses down, as well as the wine bottle. Gesturing a hand towards her, he raised a brow. “An empty love seat isn’t enough, so you decided to come bother me?” There could have easily been an accusatory tone in his voice, but the amusement was far too great for such a thought to ever cross her mind.

Erie raised a hand, cupping her cheek, shooting Talis another innocent smile, “Something like that.” Humming cheerfully, she leaned forward and caught her wine glass by the neck. The first sip was bliss. She practically moaned in satisfaction. Fairies were the best when it came to food and wine. She noticed Talis staring at her and grinned, “Careful~ You’re staring so much I’d almost be afraid your eyes will fall right out of your head.”

He seemed to snap from wherever he had gone and reached for his own wine glass, carefully holding it to his lips.

This was one moment that they both prized. That normal moment when nothing was going on, they could kick back and relax. Not have anything expected of them. Not be constantly worried for someone’s life. Right now, they were able to soak in each other’s presence and it didn’t matter if they stayed quiet. They were perfectly content to just watch and listen.

Though that didn’t mean that they would pass up the occasional teasing gesture. Talis’ gaze found Erie, and a smile graced his lips. “You’ve barely made a dent in your wine, are you sure you’re even tasting it?”

She huffed, puffing her bottom lip out into a pout. “It’s called savoring the taste! Something you don’t seem to understand.” Her eyes twinkled as she glanced slyly at his already empty glass.

Shaking his head, his grin widened. “It’s called actually drinking my wine~” He playfully teased as he reached out for the wine bottle. A burst of laughter rippled from Erie and his breath abruptly stuttered at the purity of it. The purity of someone that just wanted to have fun. He realized that his body had abruptly frozen at the sound of her laugh and his body finished the journey, pouring himself another glass.

And then he was leaning back, taking a testing sip of his wine. Turning to Erie, his eyes fell to her half empty glass and he raised a brow at her. “So I see you’re finally halfway done?” He teased lightly.

She was in the midst of sipping her wine when he spoke, and her back abruptly arched. Setting her glass down onto the table, she burst into a coughing fit. While he wasn’t proud to have made her choke, the gleam in his eyes as she turned to him was more powerful than his concern. “Hey! Rude! I was drinking!” She giggled and playfully smacked him on the arm.

Just as she was pulling back, however, she blinked in surprise as the other abruptly grabbed her hand. The expression in his gaze was clouding over. He stayed frozen, searching her face for something.

Her mouth went dry. It was clear, to her at least, what he was going through right now. She had seen that kind of face many, many times. Her heart picked up its pace as a slow, aching warmth filled her limbs. She sucked in a breath, ignoring how her hand trembled.

Meeting his eyes, she sidled close to him. She got her hand free of his and gingerly cupped his cheek. “If I didn’t know better…” She breathed, watching the light flare to life in his eyes. “I’d say you wanted to kiss me.” The burning desire coming to life within her begged for her to put her lips to his, but she wasn’t above continuing to tease him.

Talis moved closer still. “You’re the goddess of Love here, you tell me.” His lip brushed hers when he talked and that was the end of it for her.

Her eyes darkened. “Yes…” She answered and then paused, waiting for him to move back. When he didn’t, she finally closed the distance. Fire burned between them as their lips locked. Scooting closer to him, her arms entwined around his neck.

His hands slid slyly down the sides of her body, painfully slow, until they curled around her waist. His fingers burned against her skin, as they slipped underneath her shirt. But either he didn’t notice or he didn’t care, as he took it no further than that.

She could taste the wine on his lips, as well as something that tasted just like him. And suddenly, the scent that she commonly associated with him drove her crazy. His touches, his kiss, just feeling him against her made her long for more. It didn’t take her long to find herself crawling onto his lap. It was a yearning. A desire that pushed her to seek more. Yet, she was always on the lookout to make sure that she wasn’t pushing any of this too far.

As they broke apart, they breathed far too quickly. But it was barely a pause before Talis’ head ducked forward, and his lips met the side of her neck. Her breathing stuttered, and as though noticing that, she felt his lips curl. Her hands found his shoulders, and ran its nails lightly down his back. Feeling him shudder teased a smile at her lips.

His own hands curled around her body, holding her tight against him. It wasn’t enough. Nips, kisses, and licks trailed across her skin; causing her to whimper. A fine quiver had consumed her whole body; and when he trailed kisses up to her jaw--

She pulled back slightly, taking his chin and smashing her lips back against his. The suddenness of the action gave Talis a bit of a pause, but he adapted immediately. One of his hands trailed up the side of her body and into her strands of ashen blonde hair, curling his hand in them.

She shifted suddenly, pulling back if only to get into a better position-- Then her gaze happened to find the wide open door with a certain neon blue dragonette standing in the middle of the entrance way. Coming down from her high disgruntled her, to say the least. But she grinned at Sapphire. “Hasn’t anyone taught you to knock~?” She teased.

The poor dragon’s face had turned several shades of red, and she realized with some amusement, that the dragon had covered her eyes. “I-I did!” She exclaimed. “No one answered so I thought…” Swallowing thickly, she paused. Peeking at them from between her fingers she asked meekly, “When did this happen?”

Talis cocked his head, staring at Sapphire with an entirely too innocent expression. The corners of his lips curled, amusement not too far away in his gaze. “When did what happen?”

Erie leaned back, dramatically throwing a hand to her forehead. “Good lord who art thou in heaven~ It’s almost like Sapphire’s never kissed Tobias!”

If she thought Sapphire had been red before, her face now put the past to shame. “W-Well…” Tongue tied it seemed, what else could she do but slam the door shut and make a hasty getaway?

She listened to Sapphire’s footsteps fade and then turned to Talis, raising a brow. “Children are quite difficult to manage, wouldn’t you say?” Her arms entwined around his shoulders.

The sparkle in his gaze didn’t dissuade her in the least, nor the teasing smile that graced his lips, “That’s funny coming from you. Doesn’t Erebus complain frequently that you don’t grow up?”

She pouted. “You’re both mean and I ought to tell Rayne on you both.” She let out a soft sigh and smiled, shifting so she could curl against him without her limbs falling asleep.

“Good luck with that one,” he smiled and wrapped his arms around her, gently pulling her against him.

It was just another day, and through all the crap they’d been put through, she was happy for this one normal day.
