These frayed lives get another chance.
It had all been doomed from the beginning.
Can you hear my voice,
Growing hoarse in the darkening night?
Some day, we’ll meet again.

Was it just our destiny to suffer; can we fix it?
My bitterness; old cynicism,

It was an unexpected feeling,
Realization. Familiarity.
As though I was on the verge,
Of some unexpected truth.
It was a puzzle piece, clicking into place.
But somehow I knew, you would change everything.
Someway, somehow, it was more than your smile.
The vague Remembrance.
Of a promise.
The Weight of the world suddenly found me shaky,
Everything was pressing down on me,
I would have to do it all alone, or so I thought.
Time crept to a halt as you broke down every thought.
I wouldn’t have to, so you said.
Despite being strangers, I clung to those words.
My wish suddenly didn’t seem that far.
I wasn’t a kid wishing upon a star,
This dream was coming true before my eyes.
Remember me.
A vague promise, the fire of unfulfilled desire,
Your presence swept me away in its inferno.
And just like that, I knew I was a goner.
