ALso, this image has a filter on it. to hopeful make the tracing paper drawings a bit more visible if still hard to read refer to this [link] to help identify the parts

no where is it said that the sphinx was with the echidna when it died. no where is it said that the muse took the sphinx. but it is said the echidna was killed in her sleep and the sphinx was taught by the muse. i am using my own understanding to say that this is the point between the death of the echidna and the muse's teachings. and this scene is

the survival of the sphinx

due to the muse removing it from the situation and taking the sphinx under its care and teachings. ALso im reflecting the idea of strange creatures saving young heros and taking them under their wing, so to speak.
