Description
The Iron WillCannot be tempered except by
Fire, sulphur and flame licking
Upward like vines.
can the will be broken?
Thy Will be done,
The Will be broken
And the Will of the Name-of-the-Father undone
Like coils fraying, slipping off the side of vessels
As they unwind,
Down into dark, salted water.
The weight is anchored there
On the bare sea-floor.
The Iron, Will
It rust?
Flake off, grow sclerotic like old arteries?
Bones, and boards, and blades all can break,
then the flesh eaten away by Earth.
The Iron Will
Become brittle.
Shatter.
O, Father.
Hallowed be thy name, thy will, thy mane
Hallowed be thy pain.
Thy Iron Will be undone.
