Description
This is a pinup I did for the "Devil's Rejects" comic from IDW. The book is out now so I guess it is ok to post this. The character is Otis Driftwood played by Bill Moseley and he is just about to finish torturing a bunch of cheerleaders. This image was also used as the cover for the promo comic given away at the 2005 SanDiego Comic-con.

Actually I designed them and did the box art and my wife "Moon freak formula" sculpted them. Also another friend sculpted some as well. They were for a company called "Fantasy World Studios" based back in Ohio and we pretty much set up at all the conventions. They still have a site up with some pics of the old ones...[link]
I did one called "Dr. Nefarious", "the Jester", "Demonatrix", a Rod Serling Kit and a bunch of others I can't really remember anymore. We were also featured in Kitbuilders Magazine, Amzing Modeler and Filmfax but I think this was back in 97? Can't really remember.

House of 1000 corpses is my favorite movie of all time and I'm so excited to see the sequel...but I gotta wait the next 10 years I guess, because it always takes so long for such movies to be available in Germany....
Awesome work! !

I ordered it online! it should be here in a few days.
Oh man I just checked out your website and you are so awesome, you've worked on so much cool stuff.
I apologize if this is an annoying question, but i've never had the chance to ask a pro so i might as well take it ... do you have any tips on getting into the fields you're in, like directing/animation/visual fx? Is it really just "luck and who you know" as I am told? Does a degree matter alot? Because if so i need to get my butt to school D: Also probably the fact that I live in Kansas doesn't help much. But it's not gonna stop me from tryin'.

I got into animation right after I graduated college as a storyboard artist for SONY television. I got the job from my friend who was a college dropout, so I guess that say NO you don't need a diploma. I think what art school did for me was make me try different techniques I wouldn't normally try, learn how to juggle several projects at once, learn more about design and just help with a good work ethic.
I guess I am a product of "who you know", I didn't want to do anything with animation but my friend told me how much I would make and I moved to LA almost overnight. That was in '97 and I've been at SONY TV ever since.
Your best bet would be to look online at different animation companies. WB animation, SONY, Nickelodeon, Film Roman etc. Then send in some portfolios of work and ask for a critique. Then keep improving your portfolio and be persistent. As cliched as it sounds, beeing persistent really seems to be the answer if you don't anybody who can help you get a job. I know so many people who had good portfolios but didn't get a job their first couple timesou t and gave up. If they kept sending portfolios one of the times would click where the poortfolios was right for the job.
Not sure if that helps at all. I do recommend school because it will help you in areas where you didn't know you need help.

Yes, it does help quite a bit I can't go to college at the moment, but I plan on taking some classes here and there if I can, and working on my portfolio as much as possible. If there's one thing I do have it's persistance. thank you for replying!

i love this! House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects are two of my fav movies. Rob is just an awesome director and Bill Moseley was definitely the best choice to play the role of Otis. you did an excellent job on this!
