The trick that I use is the product, I use hair matte instead of gel. This is because with gel, theres not much leeway when it comes to restyling once the gel hardens.

Then once you finish with the matt and your happy with the style, then you can use hair spray to hold the style. After you spray it you have a small window that you can quickly do some touch up's before it hardens. That way everything keeps a natural look with a gel hold, minus all the annoyances

This is amazing, the wig, the shot, your pose even the red eyeliner (which I have been dying to see on an Axel cosplayer by the way) is just incredible.

That wig was murder to style, and I like to try and get my cosplays accurate make-up wise
In fact I WISH it were eyeliner, in the end I used powder eyeshadow so for the beginning of the day I was practically in tears from the dust

Ah, poor you being attacked by burning eyeshadow dust!
I like to use lipliner/lip pencil for my Axel cosplay. xD It's the same reddish colour, it's easier to smudge with your finger yet still stays put. ;D
