Shyren might not seem like a crazy character but nothing is less true - she's quite insane.

Because she is aquatic she needs water. Water that the desert does not have. While she and her Agent were looking for a source of water besides that of the king she lost him in the heat of the desert. On the edge of dying she found the oasis Napstablook was protecting. Napsta found her dying and while he does not like anyone using his water he allows Shyren to stay with him in return for payment - singing and company. Napstablook gives her a microphone and an amplifier set he'd made from items that he's traded for water and info.

Her teeth are sharp and she can be carnivorous but her main attacks are sonic soundwaves amplified by the system she's been given by Napstablook. She is not a shy singer and can scream so loud it will tear eardrums if she so pleases. Her attacks do not do a great amount of damage, but they have a good amount of knockback power. She is mainly Napsta's shield where he is the sword.

The spots on her belly are burn marks. She's had to drag herself through a fair share of desert after all. Her fin is torn because of dehydration and damage from the distance she's dragged herself through burning sand. The biggest scar is stapled shut.

The lantern on her head is in fact a bioluminescent glow and it comes in very handy as some sort of marker for monsters roaming around a night. Napsta finds a lot of his "customers" at night - when they see her light. The casing the lantern is in is made specifically to amplify the light she's giving off and can be taken off. Shyren prefers not to though, as she's gotten used to it.

The band of spikes around her fin is mostly decoration because she felt self-conscious about the tattered back fin. Napsta gave her his shiny spikes as a gift. She will not take them off - she really loves the band, even though it's heavy for her.

The scar on her cheek was caused by the king. She used to sing in his court but was eventually sent into the desert because of stealing water from the small supply. She was to be killed, but was eventually only sent off with her Agent. The king marked her a traitor to the king with it.

In her ear's a fishhook. The tear in her ear was caused by the very same hook she wears. For her it's nothing short of a battlescar and she's very proud of still owning the weapon that caused it.
