Diana and Becca paced nervously near the rail while Bird was tacked up for his first race. While he had grown up both physically and mentally since they had purchased him, neither was suddenly sure if entering him had been the best decision. Some of his works had been slow lately, though they had just blamed it on the weather.
"Come on guys! They're heading towards the starting gate!"
Molly said eagerly, startling both women out of their trances. Together the three jogged out to the public stands to watch, their breath held in anticipation. Becca in particular was sweating buckets because Bird was the first horse that she had trained for Fox Hill Farms to compete. If he didn't do well, she could be fired.
"Ready?" Diana asked, giving her a tight smile before nodding towards where the horses stood, ready and waiting for the gates to open.
"Yep. Ready as ever." The trainer replied, but her words were drowned out by the starting bell...
EEEP! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
