The finished articles.These are photographed on the Galloway Hoard book where the inspiration comes from. Over a thousand years ago a smith was inspired by ribbon armbands (possibly imported from Denmark). They hammered out a flat armring using similar techniques.
I like to think I'm smithing connections with the past by making the tools and striking silver in the same way today.
