Description
I saw the hair firsttangled like it was woven
blowing in the wind
through the window
it was as if she had merely fallen asleep
looking out at autumn
perhaps she was dreaming
that falling leaves were kisses
dropped on earth from lover's lips
floating, circling, down and down
it was as if she had merely fallen asleep
looking out at autumn
I came closer
a pen rested in her hand
the pages of her story
lay unwritten before her
and the swirles of ink suggested
a loss for words
In the other lay a dried daisy
it's petals crumpled, chipping
it's stiff stem bent
the flower began slowly
to turn to dust
I wonder what love gave her
the flower she had kept
Turning my gaze upon her face
I saw the shados from her eyelashes
and the smudge of dirt
on her button nose
enticed me to brush it off
the thrilling chil of her cold skin
turned mine to ash
For I had stumbled upon
not a sleeping girl
but one purely cold
lifelessly, breathlessly cold
in broken-hearted autumn
