I ain't against it, but I wanna know, what are the advantages of communism that capitalism doesn't have!?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

st3wART In reply to cartooncritic [2009-05-23 20:54:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, the differences are distorted, depending if you look at each theoretically, or historically.

there has not really been a communist country, only socialist, and most have given it a bad name.

but capitalism, has advantages, for those IN control ie they keep us all tied to money, can black mail other countries in to doing what they want, and you end up with brainwashed countries like...well..America - because with capitalism, if you control money, you control the people.
Communism is a society where everyone contributes what they can, and takes what they need, resulting in what is best for society, with no classes, and work and a place for everything - where as socialism is a class struggle, before total communism has been achieved.

I'm not up for Communism, but I don't find it to be bad. It may look like a bad kind of government, but there are some benefits for living in a society like that. Cool Stamp.

Wow... Supporting communists?

I never knew that could happen. Communism is downright evil.
If you don't believe me, my mother lived in Cuba for the first 18 years of her life. Communism made small kids labor away in labor camps for months on end without showers or baths. Communism gave them only a far past expired can of meat for 2 weeks of food after a hurricane. Communism banned any type of fun for the entire island. She was in hell. She's lucky she made it out alive.

Probably because they weren't born there. Cuba natives all have it rough unless they are part of the Communism party there.

There is a bad communist government so all forms of communism must be bad?
Sorry about your mom, but her predicament was the fault of corrupt leaders.
There are some pretty terrible governments in Africa that identify as democratic, but that doesn't mean that all democracy is bad.

ooh the controversy! i love it (:

while communism means everyone is equal - which is GOOD - it also means people have no motivation to better themselves, because they can't. which is the problem, i think?

pretty stamp though x

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deanwolf In reply to chuui-chan [2009-01-15 20:58:22 +0000 UTC]

There can be some inequality, as those who better themselves as work to become the best can receive incentives. But income is less evenly distributed. The incentives shrink a little, but they still are incentives.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chuui-chan In reply to Deanwolf [2009-01-16 21:54:26 +0000 UTC]

hmm; but inevitably there are going to be more talented people that will receive more incentives partially for that reason. which cancels out the whole equality thing |:

ahh you so have more important things to be doing than talking to me, i bet~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deanwolf In reply to chuui-chan [2009-01-17 00:06:27 +0000 UTC]

Equality on Communism is generalized, that means that everyone is to stay on the same level. If incentives are given, they aren't usually enough for the incentivated to move to another standard of living but to improve slightly its existant one.

Equality is relative, not exact.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chuui-chan In reply to Deanwolf [2009-01-17 16:46:21 +0000 UTC]

oh! so in communism there is simply less inequality. I see.
do you have any solution for where the authority comes from? because in practice, china etc; there has to be somewhere for the orders to come from, and these people/person will always be far above anyone else.
(:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deanwolf In reply to chuui-chan [2009-01-17 17:55:17 +0000 UTC]

Normally, that should be regulated by giving more power to the trade unions, in such a case a government is deemed repressive, the unions can demand its replacement. Other than that, the only differences are that now, the majority of the military forces have leftist alignment.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chuui-chan In reply to Deanwolf [2009-01-18 11:44:40 +0000 UTC]

um.
but that gives more power to the people in the trade unions x:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deanwolf In reply to chuui-chan [2009-01-18 19:32:40 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but for emergency purposes, such as when a leader is corrupt and
dictatorial. Many say Communism is dictatorial, but its in fact direct democracy, or grassroots democracy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chuui-chan In reply to Deanwolf [2009-01-22 20:58:56 +0000 UTC]

there's always going to have to be an authority for the society to function, emergency circumstances or no |: and the fact you even used the word "leader". The word itself promotes authority beyond that of the norm, removing 'equality'. gahhhh.

[sorry, this just seems so illogical to me personally. i should probably shut up xD]

well i have to giggle at how you are completely overestimating the nature of people who will WANT that power.//

also - name a SINGLE communist society that WORKS.
democracy as UK/US have it might not be all that great, but i reckon it's the best we've got.

The USSR, which collapsed because of nationalist influences.

lol at how your pithy sentence actually made me go look it up.
and look what i founddd.
[link]
without knowing all that much about it, i'd say the USSR collapsed because people recognized the evil of someone corrupted by the absolute power inherent in the communist system.

although there is the "skepticism and denial" paragraph, where i guess you're headed. I'm completely pro skepticism, but i think the stronger word there is "denial".
(:

Deanwolf In reply to chuui-chan [2009-01-28 21:12:11 +0000 UTC]

Actually, those trials of repression where put to an end thanks to the true communists. Joseph Stalin was a very perverse figure which made communism something that looks horrible to most of the world. He ruined the image of communism.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chuui-chan In reply to Deanwolf [2009-02-02 18:01:34 +0000 UTC]

you STILL haven't answered the point about power corrupting the dictator-style leader which tends to emerge from communism.

|:

so i think im not going to reply anymore, if that's okay~ circular arguments, all that x

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deanwolf In reply to chuui-chan [2009-02-02 21:18:22 +0000 UTC]

Ok, about that, a figure must be very transparent and have a strong will in order to mantain the power balance, otherwise, more than a single ruler is needed from the opposition and with equal strenght.

Ok, I know Stalin fucked up the whole great idea, but this doesn't mean the whole system isn't good. I really can't understand why people hate communism! After all, remember who stoped the Nazis? And no no no communism is not nazism whatever they say!:<

Oh! Party of Lenin! The strength of the people.
