"I was thinking more dried magma vents and diamond veins, not still active volcano." I said as I wipe my brow. "What sort of monsters are we going to fight here anyway?"

"Monsters who thrive in extreme heat and open flame." A Magmoor emerges from the lava! (You know what a Magmoor is, right?) "Like those."

"A giant magma fish-worm thing." I then open my spell tome, "Great, better make it rain then." I then begin to concentrate my magic at it.

I point my staff at it. "Xallihc!" It's head instantly freezes and then melts. "Oh, the fun of being a specialist in the magical arts."

"Pretty much." I said as I look around, "Now where to go."

"This way!" I walk across a suspended platform.

"Alright then." I said as I followed, "Hopefully this doesn't end in a death by cave in."

"We need to go to any nearby mines. They might have miss something. Maybe some diamonds. Maybe the remains of other adventurers."

"Of course, warm places like this means that reptilian beings would live here. Helps to keep them alert. We might end up meeting some resistance in the tunnels."

"Indeed." We get to the end of the beam and come across a tunnel.

I decides to go ahead as I cast a light spell.
"Well, this looks promising."

"Indeed." The tunnel is filled with gemstones and crystals!

"We better be careful. There might be some weak spots on the ground." I said as I looks at the floor for any cracks and slowly heads towards a crystal.

I do the same and end up facing a ruby. "Hello, lovely."

I did the same and grab a large emerald. "Amazing." I didn't notice a soft glow from it, thinking that it's just the reflection of the light spell.

I pull mine out. It's a normal ruby. No glow.

"We might need a hammer and a chisel, to safely remove the gems out of the wall." My eyes begin to glow in the same light.

"Maybe... Whoa, man, your eyes."

"What about it?" I said as my eyes turn into a golden color, still glowing.

I stared at you for a moment. "You're joking." I then turned around, looking at the darkness ahead. "We better see how long this vein goes." I said as I walks ahead into the tunnel.

I sigh. "Something crazy's gonna happen..." I follow you down.

We keep on going trough the tunnel.
"So many gemstones." I said as I didn't notice the light spell ending, leaving only my eyes and the emerald as a source of light. "We need to map this place. Hire some people to mine, once we clear this area of monsters." I said as I look around despite the darkness. "No monsters around right now though. If we're lucky, we might not have to battle one."

"Yeah, especially since we just ran out of light."

"What?" I said as I worryingly look around. "There might be an invisible magic-cancelling being around here." I begin to scratch my neck. "Be vigilant." I said as I swing my staff above my head, thinking that something touched my neck from there.

"Yeah... Wait, lemme try. Lumos!" A ball of light forms on the tip of my staff, and quickly dissipates. "Okay, so something's sapping out magic."

"That's worrying." I said as I continue to scratch my neck, not noticing the flaking skin. The large emerald continues to glow softly.

"We could use your eyes and emerald for light."

"Really?" I said in an annoyed tone. "The place is bright enough as it is." My eyes turn into reptilian slits. I then pull out my sword. "We just need to be careful. We don't know what we're up against and we can't use our top aces."

We continue walking through the tunnel and found a well lit area. I continue to scratch my neck, not noticing the green scales and the flaking skin on it.
"This tunnel goes a long way." I muttered as I continue to scratch my neck.

I'm staring at your scaly neck.

"What?" I said as I begin to scratch my arm, flaking the skin off from there. The emerald appears to have shrunk.

"Er... You'll just disregard what I say, just like you disregarded the glowing eyes."

"Disregard-" I then notice the green scales on my arm. "Holy smokes! What happened to my arm!"

"You finally noticed something's wrong."

"I thought you were joking!" I shouted, baring my fangs at you. "Terrible jokes, but still." I continue to scratch my arm, causing more skin to flake off. "It's so itchy." The emerald is now the size of a small rock.

I continue to scratch my arm, spreading the green scales. When I look at my fingers for a moment, I stop. My fingers now have sharp black claws.
"What are you waiting for?" I said as my tongue flickered out my mouth for a bit. "Do something!" Some drool drop out of my mouth. The emerald continues to shrink.

"What do I do!?" I back up a little, frightened by your transformation.

"I don't know!" I growled as my skin looks more molted and paper like.
Before the emerald completely disintegrated, a strange vapor appeared and entered through my eyes, nose, and mouth, quickening the changes. I collapse from the pain. A paper-like rip is heard as my human skin was ripped off from my face as my new lizard muzzle appeared. My hair falls off as more of my skin flake off. The colors of my scales mature into a dark green with a green belly color. My head continues to change shape, looking less human and more lizard. I can feel my clothes getting tight as more rips are heard.

My back is pressed against the wall. You grow larger and larger.

I look at the ground and see my ears had fallen off with my face. I begin to cry, from both the fear and the pain. I look at you with my yellow glowing reptilian eyes. You look smaller, which means that I'm growing.
"Haak Hee!" I growled as I can feel my throat changing.
My boots ripped into pieces into leather rags and flaked skin, showing my black clawed three toed lizard feet. I can feel myself growing bigger, stronger, and hungrier. I look at you with drool falling from my fanged mouth.
