Description
This is Part of the "Sodor Personalized AU"This is my personalized interpretation of Thomas The Tank Engine, a fictional, freelance contracted loco initially intended for a pre-grouping railway in England. this design is heavily influenced by a LBSC K class, as well as other LBSC locos in general. he's not exactly got six small wheels, and he's not exactly a little engine (he almost rivals Gordon in height, but I've found most of the other basis choices for Thomas did the same.) but he is most certainly my Thomas.
the (HEAVILY ABRIDGED) story of this Thomas is as follows:
In 1912, a smaller pre-grouping railway in the south of England contracted a locomotive from the London Brighton and South Coast Railway, designed by L. Billinton alongside the first batch of the E2 Class, after this E11 finishes construction, a very recently finished E2 (Number 105) Was purchased by one of the Directors of the rapidly growing North Western Railway on Sodor, the NWR had decided to have 105 Shipped over sea, as opposed to by rail, as the directors at the time believed it would be cheaper (whether or not it actually was, i will leave it up to you to decide.), however the E11 was also to be shipped the same way, the man who contracted the E11 was very wealthy, and also very eccentric, and he ALSO wanted the locomotive shipped by sea. not because he thought it would be cheaper, but because he wanted to. both 105 and the E11 were loaded onto the same ship, even the same cargo hold. however the ship's crew fumbled. and they fumbled HARD. several men onboard had mixed up the papers meant for each engine. as such, when the ship docked on Sodor, the E11 was unloaded instead of 105, The only one who had realized what had gone wrong was 105, and by the time anyone else had realized what happened, both engines had long since been put to work, both railways also realized that the engines they received were both of very Very similar strengths. so the LBSC E11, now christened Thomas, became a permanent member of the railway. earning the Number 1, he had a few mishaps early on, a minor rebuild shortly after arriving on the railway, after his rear end was mangled in an incident with a bundle of sleepers being hoisted across the line, as well as an extensive rebuild in the 1960s, he's faithfully served the north western ever since.
