Sorry for using Doitsu instead of Germany - I've been watching the anime lately and I can't get Feliciano's voice out of my head.
Plus Doitsu sounds to me like an incredibly cute shortened nickname of Deutschland. Aand yes. I've heard this theory, and I really, really like it, because I don't want Feliciano to be in love with someone else than Ludwig.
I also would like to add that spaetzle are very yummy. =3

It is no longer a theory cause I was talking to ma history buff brother and the holy roman empire was acctually germany with only a little bit of the other german places like austria so germany is acctually holy rome! Also make more cause you draw soooo cute!

i love doitsu! it more fun to say than "germany". in fact, german's call it "dutchland", so i guess is doesn't realy matter how you say it.

In the Hetalia archive, they said that HRE survived his apparent "death" in the war and had amnesia and that kind of stuff, so he forgot all of his childhoods memories and grew up to be Germany.
While Chibitalia just becomes Italy by growing up 8D

I think I read somewhere that the area where HRE was became Germany. God, I can't remember things for my life, so if I'm wrong, SORRY.
then again, thinking about it, geographically, is that really possible? I might be wrong, but I keep thinking that HRE is where Rome was.

You're thinking of the ancient Roman Empire, that's the one with Rome. Which couldn't be "holy", because it was pagan for most of the time. xD
HRE's full name was Holy Roman Empire of German Nation. The idea was to unite the numerous German (and other) states and tribes in the tradition and glory of ancient Rome, but with the Christian religion.

Thanks! Yep, the way I learnt it in school was that HRE's full name was Holy Roman Empire of German Nation. Not that I paid attention (I'm rather the opposite of a history nut ^^), but I had a huge flashback when I got into Hetalia.

I actually didn't learn German history in school (did Ancient History) so I actually did the research myself into the 1st Reich. When I was watching Hetalia I actually had to make the connections (and then the research myself). I was happy when I was (historically) correct.
