Description
From the moment she came to this worldshe decided her dream had to come true
she was ready to do anything to achieve what she felt be called
she was now inches starin at the shore
and she looked at the stars for the first time
everybody just told her her dream was a wasting of time to be loosing her mind
she was kind of a wondering
how to catch a falling star
how to rearrange the world
cos that was not the right one
and so she looks out
out of the blue
she looks out
out of the blue
then she was planning nine
she gave up
and she went to the shore for the last time
and she cried cos she thought she wouldve never been able to reach her sweet dream
but the moon told her look at the stars
they were all falling down to the ground
but i caught all the wonderful lights
now thats piercing the sky
elevating your mind
she was kind of a wondering
how to catch a falling star
how to rearrange the world
cos that was not the right one
and so she looks out
out of the blue
she looks out
out of the blue
mother has a dream
not impossible now
catch it with a hand
that impossible star
she will realize she can do all the things
she can see, she desreves, she believes in
she was kind of a wondering
how to catch a falling star
how to rearrange the world
cos that was not the right one
and so she looks out
out of the blue
she looks out
out of the blue
LISTEN TO THE SONG PLEASE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDrHoB…
I've first heard this song two days ago. I was just messing around on youtube, searching for more of Moony's wonderful songs (I've always liked her music, even before that song "I don't know why").
But when I listened to "Falling Star", I saw my whole life rushing right in front of my eyes. I'm running after a falling star after all. I'm chasing after a dream. a difficult, but not impossible journey. Many people (even from my family) thinks it's a wasting of time, that I should be doing something more useful for the society than just drawing. But it's not just a mechanical act like the bloody economy or politic of this world. We create wonderful worlds, fuller of life and color than this one. Full of strong emotions and intensity. Emotions, thats what our worlds are made of, and thats what makes them so special.
From the first moment I could ever hold a pencil in my hands, I decided I would do anything I could to make my biggest dream come true. I want to full this grey world with the epic, by writing the amazing stories and places that lives in my mind. by drawing them. No matter what what comes on my way, I'll get over it.
heres a final message for your hearts: POWER TO YOUR DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, it's complicated... my mother and my father used to hate my art. specially my father. then, last year, I decided to show my world to my mother. I mean, all my characters, my feelings, and even the fanarts people sometimes give me (I love them so, so much!). she didn't understand the characters part, but she truly did understand the feeling. now, she supports me to death.
but my father... well... he HATES when I say I want to be an artist when I grow up. for him, its all a wasting of time. I tried to show my world to him too, but he just can't understand. he only understands about wine and negotiation, business. And he wants me to be at his place in the future. and I don't like fates.
its quite complicated, you see...

Business? That's no fun. All we artists need is... well, art!

Its rare in this world to find something of true beauty, a thing one can connect with and understand and be inspired by. The piece of art alone is great, but the message it is based upon makes it beautiful.

Next time they admire a cool looking car, or house or something, remind them that the design was an artistic thought before anybody could actually make it.

thats just what I do!^^
the problem isn't my mother. she actually has been supporting my dreams lately (before, we used to have terrible arguments about that, but after some time, she began to know my world a bit better... now she truly supports me)
but my father doesn't. he thinks its a waste of time. no matter what you tell him, he believes on what he wants. (once I've even tried to explain Darwin to him, the theory of evolution. after 3 hours explaining, showing, talking, he still thinks animals don't evolute, and we didn't come from the monkeys... ok...)

Lol. I don't believe in Darwin's theory completely, but I do to an extent. He makes excellent points in his studies! To shut something out because you don't understand it is a common fault amongst older generations. I think our generation is more careful to consideration before rejection.
Can't help you with the problem though. It's almost like a disease. Just hang in there!

Well, I have a story to tell you, because I am coming from the opposite direction.
I spent my life training to be a programmer, only to realize once I got here that, although I love programming, simply "being a programmer" wasn't even what I wanted, and that nothing in my life was actually MEANINGFUL to me. I had no friends... just a bunch of stuff... programming... video games... things that I don't really want my life to consist of.
If you spend your life simply trying to be useful to society, you will likely burn out like I did when you realize just how little you really have. Unless you go into some manual labor field, it's quite likely that the stuff you end up doing in your job may even be difficult to justify as "helpful to society" (as opposed to simply something which has market incentive behind it - for example, I ended up working on a piece of software that the company wanted me to make, but that I didn't really believe in)
This last year, though, I pretty much dropped programming, picked up art, and am now working hard to make friends and learn all of the things in life that had passed me by... learning to let go of my need to be "productive"... and learning how to share my emotions instead of hiding them
I think it's best if you are a balanced person. It's nice to be able to be "productive" sometimes, but DON'T try to make that your only goal in life. You have a wonderful gift here, and I think that it is important to keep exercising it, as it will help you share your emotions with others, which will undoubtedly help you stay close to your friends in the future (and make new ones, too!).
And besides... it's not like the world doesn't need artists! I believe there is a field called "graphic design" that would be perfect for someone like you! Just don't let it eat your hobby the way my job ate mine... you need to keep your personal interests in art alive, too!
You are... one of the most amazing artists that I have ever seen!
And certainly one of the most interesting. The fact that you incorporate emotion into your art is what makes it so special!
Oh - and... this is a beautiful picture, BTW!

I really wish people would publish lessons like this - when someone learns something about science, they publish it so that the knowledge can accumulate and everyone can be better informed and make better decisions science/technology-wise. So why is it so much wisdom is never recorded and is instead lost forever? Wouldn't it make sense for this to be compiled in the same way science is, because which has a more dramatic effect on a person's life? Which is more important in the long run? A scientific theory or avoiding a big mistake in life? So if one is more important, why is the less important one remembered and the more important one forgotten?
That's why I want to write fiction

Lol - I don't even remember having written such a long comment, but sure! - I suppose I still stand by what I said! I think I must have been very inspired at the time!
I'm pretty sure these lessons ARE passed to us, we're just heavily pressured into ignoring them by those who want us to be "successful" by getting "real" jobs and such. Not many people would take advice about emotional success over advice that can help pay the bills... and those that would tend to be looked down upon for doing it.

And I agree with all of it!:
"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15
Okay, the reason I quoted that is because there's something really cool about it. Essentially, he's been telling these people what he believes that is true, and the right way to live, but nobody seems to notice or care, and they frown on him for worshiping God [what he believes is the right way to live], so in response, he's saying: "all you other guys can do whatever you want, it doesn't matter to me, but I will serve the Lord", in other words, he, like you, is being looked down upon for living the right way, and his response is essentially, "It doesn't matter what you think or how you live, I will live the right way." I really love it for that reason.
Others can shoot themselves in the foot by chasing their tails and running in circles chasing after happiness by trying to get raises, better jobs, public success, etc, but they're just hurting themselves. They're being arrogant and dumb by not listening and by thinking they can find happiness through a well-paying job, they're only hurting themselves. Meanwhile you say you've learned through experience a better way to live. Why should someone who's right listen to someone who's wrong, when it's been learned through experience? Should a genius learn from an idiot? Should a Ph.D learn more by listening to a middle schooler? Should the Ph.D even care if some middle school kid calls him dumb? Of course not!
Forget them, they're wrong, dumb, and hurting themselves alone, keep living the right way no matter what they think! (Sheesh, it's taken me this long to come up with a way to put that into words?)
"...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Anyways,
It's kind of funny people would care more about bills and getting "real" jobs than emotional success, since, after all, the goal of "real" jobs and paying the bills is to be secure so that they can be happy, which is emotional success. (Hence the "running in circles" bit I said earlier)
I write long comments all the time

and you're right about being a balanced person. doing one thing in life isn't the best way of living.

...thank you for sharing your talent and passion with the rest of us...you truly do have some wonderful gifts...the gift of inspiration...the gift of sharing...and, most of all, the gift of commitment; you are following your dreams, and who else is to say what you can or can not do? The answer is that only you can make that decision, and I for one am glad that you have made your decision to pursue that dream!
