Short story bonus:

Callum huffed as the two tokotas trudged through the snow. While it was fairly deep, callum was able to easily stay above it but was amused by the fact the smaller and shorter Toki was having to work harder to move through the thick deep snow. Serves the tiny dude right for being so obnoxious. At least out here, rowan was too busy to be too obnoxious. Especially after all the gloating Roo had done about how he had found all 3 containers during the last rites test. That was only due to the fact that all 3 has been on the floor; that was practically cheating having them all at the short stacks height. Giving himself a shake, the dire intentionally leaned to the side Rowan was on, making all of the snow that had been gathering on his thick pelt fall directly onto the toki.

“Hurry up. You and your short legs are going to get us caught by the approaching blizzard.” Called huffed, moving a bit further ahead. He almost took the chance to also kick some snow back at the toki but decided against it after a side eye glance back showed that Rowan was not only up to his belly in sunk into snow but also covered in a thick layer of gathering snow. Callum could be an ass at times and even though Rowan but he still had a heart somewhere deep down there.

“You’re not that much bigger than me you know-“ Rowan’s words were cut off by confusion by the dires change in direction and attitude.

Callum had turned back around and approached the toki, using one of his paws to gently brush some of the snow mass off of the smaller ones back. With how heavy the snow fall had gotten in the last few minutes, it didn’t seem to make too much of a difference but it was the only act of kindness or care the dire had shown to the toki since the start of their first rites test.

“Thanks..” Roo said with a bit off added pep to his voice after a moment of silence. He wasn’t going to question this change in attitude as it was nice to see someone actually had a heart. “Hopefully the flag isn’t too far from here. Even if we do find it soon, we might still get stuck out here if the snow keeps getting heavier.”

The concerned pitch in Rowan’s voice didn’t escape callum. Though the large red dire shared the same concern especially since the snow was already both high and thick. And what was falling was only going to make travel even more treacherous. Especially with the knowledge of the bridge they were slowly getting closer and closer to. He could only hope the spirits would be kind to them. “We need to pick up the pace. Blizzard coming or not, I don’t want to be near here come nightfall.”

While Rowan could have picked this as a moment to argue; he too shared the same sentiment. Neither one wanted to take the chance at being by the bridge after nightfall. Neither wanted to hear the cries.
