#10: Bluto - Popeye the Sailor Man

As we reach into the home stretch, I really need to focus on characters I view to be higher then other. The best of the best. My personal Top Ten and I can think of nothing better then from a series which is near and dear to me and many others; Popeye. Of course the choice to include Bluto isn't just because Popeye is something I've liked since my childhood but because Bluto is such a quintessential trope of a character. He's one of the original dame nappers, the cliche bully type, the perpetual thorn in the protagonist's side. He as well as characters like Pete or Snidley Whiplash (should add those guys sometime) have created such a long lasting trope that it still exists to this day, hell if it weren't for him and Popeye we wouldn't even have Super Mario! True, he may not be the biggest bad here, but he definitely deserves a spot among them!
