I got asked a lot of questions about what tools, and what methods I use to create adoptables, so here's goes.

Part one of maybe three or four, depending on how much space the third part will take up.

And the stats for what I use:

Scanner: Epson Perfection 3490 PHOTO (Going on seven years old!)
Program: Photoshop 7.0, earlier and newer will both work the same way, but some options may be listed differently.
Tablet: Intuos4. I did just fine using my old Graphire and Intuos2 for the same thing, expensive tablets not required. Using a mouse can be done, but it will be a little slower.

I can try to answer any questions in regards to Photoshop, I have not used GIMP, so sadly, I can't offer any help there!
