Eldest of the three VanVoder siblings and an all-around jerk, he was a major contributing factor to Lydia and Lars leaving home together. Envious of Lydia's skills, Lyle believed he was far more worthy of being a great knight. He had a habit of taking his frustrations out on Lydia, and eventually Lars. Lyle's abuse of Lars grew from verbal, to physical, and eventually to violent. Lydia had had enough, and the two of them fought, after which Lydia and Lars left town and found a new place to live.

With his shining armor, yellow cape, and long flowing hair, he styles himself as a heroic knight of justice and righteousness. He is known by the nickname "Virtuous VV".
