Description
This is the Russian firebird, based heavily on the description in Mercedes Lackey's book 'Firebird.' The traditional bird is male, and steals golden apples.Related content

I like the bird's eyes and its head feathers, though eyes are especially good - you can see a kind and clever mind in them. However, I should note that in all the tales Firebird is always female, not male.

This is a beautiful piece that deserves more recognition than it's gotten! I love the way you've done the sparkly bits on the top of its head, and also the glows in the surrounding leaves. What medium did you use to paint this?
I'm a sucker for the Firebird. You might also like the description of the Firebird and its role in Sarah Zettel's 'Isavalta Trilogy.'
