many ornithologists refuse to acknowledge the ghost owl as a true bird, as they are extremely elusive and are rarely seen. there is no physical evidence left by any ghost owls - no feathers, droppings, or eggs have been found. some scientists have tried to capture these rare creatures with traps, but none have succeeded.

the owl form is the shape that the seraphim take when they enter the living realm to guide the souls of the newly-dead into the world of the dead. they are not actually feathered - rather, their hoods and drapes are mottled with a feather-like pattern. they take on mostly natural colors in their owl form, but occasionally glimmers of their true, bright colors shine through.
