The gleaming gulpher, more commonly known as the crystal serpent, is a migratory species whose origins are unknown. Very little documentation has been made about them by chiot kind since very few have lived to tell the tale upon encountering this beast. It is speculated by the staff of Whitewood inn that it came from the fog, similarly to the spookaloo.

A few of the known facts chiot have been able to gather about these creatures is that they are capable of flight in a floaty fashion, similarly to the skyripper, and have flat skin appendages on the sides of their bodies which help them navigate through the air smoothly. The gulpher can unhinge its jaw to the very bottom of its neck, allowing it to swallow prey up to four times bigger than itself. Its sharp fangs are armed with a venom that causes confusion, distorting the victims' common sense and flight-or-fight response. A chiot under its effect has testified that it had even made them attack their own allies; thus making it something to not be taken lightly. The gulpher also has a scaley crest that it uses to further disorient prey - incredibly reflective, these crystallic scales radiate an aura that resemble northern lights during the evening, the light of a torch being enough to trigger the effect.

Due to the few and inconsistent technical documentations about this species, a myth have been created involving them named The Legend of the Cursed Crystal. As the rhyme says, "shine thine eyes upon the gleam of death, as they have come for those who are next". It is said that at the very top of the Traveler's eye lies a cursed crystal, which shows only during wintertime. According to the legend, it was the most beautiful thing the chiot had ever laid their eyes upon, sparkling greed in the hearts of chiots. All who went in pursuit of the crystal were never to return, and their bodies were found crystallized in spring, fallen victim to the curse. According to the Legend, the crystal's guardians are the crystal serpents, horrific beings of unmatched strength who lurk beneath the snow to lure in the next victims of the crystal curse. For hundreds of years it was believed to be nothing but a myth, but not long ago, a chiot who worked at the Whitewood Inn came back after a long hike in search of ores during wintertime, speaking utter nonsense. They said that they've encountered a crystal snake and that the Crystal have finally awakened to make new victims.
