Description
The hole, and relief, drilled out for the T-nut. The relief is for the flange of the T-nut, so it is flush to the surface.
I made an adapter for my Bogen/Manfrotto #3025 tripod head today.
The threads on the base of the tripod head were 3/8”-20, where most of my tripods are 1/4”-20 thread. So I pulled out a piece of seasoned limb, cut from my cherry tree. First I turned it into a cylinder. Then I clamped it into a chuck, so I could drill the ends for the T-nuts. I pounded the T-nuts into each end, and only had a little crackage. I also cut a piece of brass 3/8”-20 all-thread to go from the adapter, into the tripod head. I finished the wood with a mineral oil and bees wax blend.
