Description Here's a cartoon that some readers of classic newspaper comics should recognize. This is Krazy Kat and Ignatz Mouse, created by George Herriman. Running from 1913 to 1944, this newspaper comic received critical acclaim from scholars, a first for comics, and was considered "revolutionary" for its time.

The story here is that Krazy Kat is a feline of indeterminate gender who pined for Ignatz Mouse. Ignatz usually responded by throwing bricks at Krazy Kat, but that failed to deter the nutty feline.

Krazy would show his affection at times, by helping Ignatz's family get through some tough times. Ignatz never knew -or he'd try to KILL Krazy for making him beholden to him/her.
