Daerius (or Zog, the alias he prefers) is an antagonist character turned antihero in my Event Horizons novel (in progress). His character design heavily consists of him being a child prodigy turned “mad scientist”. Although he’s not exactly insane- his villain arc had mainly come about due to him just being morally grey and at a breaking point due to unresolved trauma/misfortune. The abduction of his brother played a huge role in this.He has a masters in mechanical engineering and specializes in robotics and programming. He also dabbles in chemistry every now and then when needed- as I said, he was a child prodigy. He did aspire to reach a PhD, however, his mental health was suffering as he believed his brother was dead. The final straw for him in a series of unfortunate events was one of his peers stealing a concept for a vr technology he’d designed. That’s more or less the point that he lost it and decided the world had let him down.
His age throughout the storyline ranges from around 22-30. Still working out some fine details.
