Description

Two weeks into the search for Skye, Ash is invited to dinner by Chairman Rose as the man wished to have a chat. Ash is very hesitant to take up Rose's offer considering their mission, but Goh points out that the Chairman might be able to help them in finding Skye.

So Ash goes to the dinner and is restless and uninterested in talking and/or eating. Rose asks what's wrong, and Ash explains that he's been looking for his boyfriend for several weeks after he was kidnapped by a Pokémon called Zacian.

The Chairman gives his condolences and proposes that he'll assist Ash in the search and then some. . .if Ash becomes one of his sponsored trainers. In fact, that was exactly what the Chairman wanted to talk to Ash about.

He wants Ash to "help him guide Galar into a better future", as well as wishing to help Ash become a stronger trainer/champion in his own right.

Ash, clearly not in the best condition to make such major decisions, accepts Chairman Rose's offer--but only under the condition that they find Skye first and make him a priority.

It is someone on Rose's payroll who points Ash and Goh towards the Crown Tundra a week later. Skye is found, but is severely wounded after Zacian almost bites his arm in half. Some Macro Cosmos employees take Skye to Motostoke for immediate medical attention.

With Skye found and within hospital care, the Chairman is fast to force Ash to jump between Skye's bedside and whatever Rose wants from him (mostly media interviews). Ash tells Skye about becoming one of Rose's sponsored trainers, much to Skye's ~heavily medicated~ confusion.

While the Chairman wasn't lying about wanting to make Ash a stronger trainer/champion, his main objective is for Ash to be Leon's second when the time came for Eternatus to be awakened and captured. And he did want to learn more about Ash and his interesting Pokémon (cough greninja cough), if it means Galar's future is better secured.

And if his new friend tries to make a step out of line--well, he wouldn't want anything to happen to Skye, would he?

Is spending several weeks tirelessly searching for and then sacrificing your own freedom for your boyfriend's return and well-being romantic, or nah?

The first sketch probably takes place the day after Skye was taken and it's the first time Ash, Pika, and Platinum have been drawn together! And it's sad!!

Platinum is a lot like Skye (as she is very selective when it comes to being affectionate and prefers to keep a physical distance from others), so drawing her actively choosing to cuddle up with Ash is lowkey heartbreaking for me lol

And don't even get me started on Pika. She's an absolute wreak without her Skye, just how Skye would be a wreak without her.

And finally, Ash. Dude has a track record of having a one-track mind when it comes to finding and saving his loved ones. M03 and especially M08 can attest to that.

But in those two incidents, Ash knew where Delia and Pikachu were (the Hale mansion and the Tree of Beginning respectively) and only spent two days at maximum away from them. So you can only imagine how he must've felt in those weeks, having no idea where Skye could be in Galar. . .

Don't worry, Ash isn't legally under contract to Macro Cosmos after the Darkest Day--Leon burned those personally.
