Looking around at the absence of a ring, he didn't realize that their contest was strictly mat wrestling. That didn't bother him. He noticed that neither of their women had arrived yet. Rapture was supposed to met him here, but she usually ran late. That also didn't bother him. He simply wanted to get this exhibition match out of the way so he could take Rapture to a late showing of a new action flick. He had no idea what was at stake because Rapture had decided not to inform him of the wager's key part: the winner of this match gave their respective woman the right to choose the stipulations of a match with the loser's partner. Rapture had felt that the pressure might jinx his winning streak. She would later sincerely regret keeping it a secret. At present Gerald was struggling to understand why Bart was acting so serious. Although his prior interactions with him had been casual, his observation of him as a chatty, happy-go-lucky type of guy didn't mesh with his current taciturn, scowling demeanor.

"Sorry, I didn't get here earlier to help you set up," Gerald said, trying to break the ice. He extended his hand for a friendly shake, intending to follow up with some questions about how they should proceed. Bart answered him with a kick out of nowhere to his face. The blow knocked him silly. The European uppercut that connected immediately afterwards left him out cold on his feet.
