Description

Recently, since fans returned to soccer games, there has been an increase of fans attacking players. In May 2022, Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen was attacked by a Manchester City fan. In November 2022, a fan in a game in Turkey attacked a goalkeeper with the corner flag. In December 2022, the Melbourne Derby between Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory was abandoned after fans stormed the pitch, resulting with Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover suffering concussion. In the past week, two goalkeepers were assaulted by fans. On Wednesday, in a Dutch Cup game, AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado was attacked by a drunk spectator. The goalkeeper fought back and he was sent off. The manager of AZ Alkmaar took his team off and the match was abandoned. Yesterday, at the end of the North London Derby, a Tottenham fan at full time kicked Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, shortly after a Tottenham player (Richarlison) riled the keeper (Said Spurs player also riled Takehiro Tomiyasu,  Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel and Ben White). The Spurs player even refused to shake Martinelli's hand and slapped Takehiro Tomiyasu on the sidelines, and derby game are always fraught with tension from both fans and players. Don't forget, Richarlison encouraged the fan to attack Aaron Ramsdale, and the Arsenal players got him away from the situation. But fans shouldn't attack players
