When it comes these kinds of painted works, I'm far and away out of my league, but I still have to say this shot up onto my top 5 works from you. Something about the fact that there are not real lines to speak of, only suggestion and paint strokes... I know it must seem impossible but even I'm kind of speechless to try and describe everything great about this, at least not without repeating things I've already said you're ridiculously talented at depicting.
All around fantastic work, and I hope your results from this test make their way into other works. They're too damned epic not to!

I also prefer to stick to outlines for readability and contrast.
It also doesn't come easy to me too, to only have shading, silhoutte and color.
But once in a while I have to force myself to someting new.

No problem, of course. I will say again, though: for a bit of dabbling and experimentation, the product is more than palatable. Like I said, as much a neophyte as I am with digital drawing, I'm just plain ignorant when it comes to painting. Maybe that's why this impresses me so much, but either way you handled it quite nicely.
