THE STORY:Karmen gazed at Michael, her eyes carrying the weight of determination as she sternly commanded him to stay at the ready. "Your highness, let me protect you by making sure the way is safe" he pleaded with concern etched on his face. Karmen known for her thoughtfulness and kindness responded in the way she always has with him... "Michael, you have protected me well but this is a journey I must now take alone." Nothing truly needed to be said as he could read it in her soft brown eyes. With a short hesitation he reluctantly stepped aside allowing her to proceed into the unknown.

In her strength she summoned up the courage to continue with what she started. Guided by the light of the burning torch Karmen extended her other arm towards the source of the twig sound they heard earlier, parting the overgrown veil of the jungle. As she stepped into the darkness she instantaneously seemed to vanish from Michael's sight.

Minutes passed by filled with the mystical the ambiance of the place – the continuous chorus of crickets, eerie bird calls echoing in the distance, and other unidentifiable sounds. Unable to bear the suspense any longer Michael took off in pursuit of Karmen, hacking through the dense vegetation until in a moment of awe and disbelief he witnessed the culmination of the spell – its mysterious effect unfolded before his eyes.

"My God... it worked..." fell from his lips as his eyes met Karmens in regret.

NOTES:I've been pretty sick lately so haven't been posting. Getting better and hope to be back to things as usual. I needed to finish a story or two that I started so here we are with only two images in the story but at least it is complete now. Michael regrets that Karmen has brought back to life her old lover... the spell worked. Heck Michael may have been the one to have slayed her lover in the first place for her love.
