There are a lot of comic pages on the Ctenophorae tumblr page that aren’t on DA. Most of the information I gave is from those pages. 
For example: there is a small story arc where Cteno’s body gets severely damaged, so she lives as just a head for a while until Anu (the eyepatch one) can patch her body up. Anu takes the opportunity to do a little dissection to learn what makes Cteno’s body tick, but doesn’t seem to learn much other than that her abdomen is mostly hollow. (she had to use some kind of crazy sci-fi chainsaw-looking thing to cut it open, and if I remember correctly, commented that Cteno’s body is surprisingly resilient)
I assume the fact that Anu was able to fix up the body good as new has more to do with sci-fi space technology than Cteno’s biology, but being able to re-attach her head to her body like nothing happened might be a part of her biology.

she was also originally a MLP:FiM OC but evolved into her own unique thing. She also doesn't mix well with large quantities of water, since her body is mostly viscous, but not sure if that is still canon.

Well, based on some shenanigans from the comics, the head can survive completely fine seperate from the body, and the large abdomen behind her is mostly hollow. Her “hair” is actually a slimy substance that can be formed into just about any shape, including arms and fingers (this is also why she can have many different hairstyles and colors). It is very difficult and mentally taxing to create and control more than 3 or so arms at once. Beyond that, the arms begin to act on their own. Usually, this means they start trying to jack Cteno off.
