This picture almost broke me. It actually broke Photoshop! I upped the size of this picture because of its complexity, & my computer couldn't handle it - it crashed Photoshop at least 4 times & I had to resort to working on each group of layers (Sylvia, the reflection, & the wall/floor) as its own file, then compiling them together in a separate file where I merged each file into a single layer. Between the hardware limitations & the detailing, the picture took a long longer than anticipated & that's why Part 3 was delayed coming out - I had the story done, but I had a lot of work to do on the cover.

Definitely the most rewarding of the bunch!

This pic's concept actually predates the story. I had an idea for another story, "Grendel Dysphoria", that I'm not sure I'll ever write that used a very similar layout for the cover. Knowing that I'd likely never get to it, I stole the imagery and used it in what I thought was a more positive, if sobering, context.
